What to do! i recently got with a old friend of 10yrs we started dating and things moved really fast i think?

that because we allready new eachother well we rushed it as far as i was concearned things were movinrapidly but it felt good. he fully encouraged it with supprise gifts flowers plans for holidays ect introduced me to his family and close friends, bonded with my son by taking him places. then suddenly anounced that he couldnt do it because he wasnt ready for commitment! his mother past away nearly a yr ago he seems i think this has a lot to do with his random impulsive behaviour? he got a new job and quit now hes told me hes going travelling. i love him and im trying to let him go but finding it hard. help!
