Drumcondra is very convenient to the airport, being directly on the bus route, while it is still close enough to the city centre. The rents are quite reasonable in this area too, and it is near the botanic gardens which is lovely, especially with a child. You wouldn't need a car at all living here, as it is a really good bus route, with many buses going through into the city centre as well as to the airport.
