How can you still be in love after decades?

Those goo-goo gaga love hormones do tend to dissipate after the first couple of years. But they're not gone forever. The relationship evolves into mutual trust, respect, kindness, understanding, all that good stuff. The first couple of years, I'd look at him and want to tear his clothes off every time, I thought he was just this magical prince. Several years later, the pion and infatuation is lessened a bit, when I look at him I just think "How'd I get so lucky?" because he's still funny, y, smart, all those qualities I fell in love with in the first place, plus we have this shared history and life we're building together.
