In tropical regions, lightning is a common occurrence. Why can't we harness the energy from lightnings?

The amount of energy in a lightning isn't enough to justify the effort. What makes it so impressive is that it is released within a very short period of time. The energy that can be captured could only power a lightbulb for few minutes.
