I have tried so many times to apply false eyelashes is there a big secret Im missing here? I have tried...?

everything.. What happens is the glue slides everywhere. Should my eye be open or closed? I can get one side on but then the other side pops up off lash (grr) I cannot get them on ? I have read previous answers and I have read on diff websites - but I think there is some 'secret' thing I am missing. I do have some coordination I dont know what the problem is? Should I gently pull my the skin at edge of eye so my lash line is straight? I dont know?
